California Trip Oct 2007

As some of you know Larry and I went to California to see Amir, Rebekah and Damien Flores. We left on October 3rd early in the morning and arrived at the Ontario, CA airport by late morning. We got our rental car and drove to Anaheim and checked into a Days Inn motel about 1/2 mile from Disneyland. Rebekah and Damien met us at the motel Thursday morning and joined us at Disneyland for the day. This was the first time we had seen our Grandson, Damien Riley Flores and he is 6 months old.

Grandpa's first meeting!
We all piled in Rebekah's truck and went to Disneyland together. This was something Larry thought he would never get to do was go to a Disney Theme park. He (along with the rest of us) was excited to go! The weather was perfect the whole time we were in California. Sunny every day and in the 70's! The sky was so blue there. I saw this sign and thought it was kinda cool.
The first thing we did was walk into a show and we saw " Honey I Shrunk the Audience". You get these 3D glasses to wear while watching the movie and there are a bunch of special effects you can feel throughout the movie. Make sure and see it if you ever go! I had seen it before at Disneyworld in Florida. After the show we saw this big ball and its turning with water running over it. Of course, Larry had to go get in on the action with the kids. I see Rebekah holding Damien standing beside him.
While we were waiting in line to ride the Nemo submarine, Rebekah was holding Damien on her shoulders and he fell asleep on her head. Cute!We were completely submerged under water inside the submarine and we all had our own port holes to look out into the water with. I saw Nemo and other characters trying to find Nemo but they were moving so much and so fast I couldn't get there picture. Here are a couple of underwater scenes. It was kind of a cool ride. If you don't like enclosed small spaces this isn't the ride for you though!

We went to Mickey's ToonTown next and walked around and played.

Larry saw this car and Larry said "come on lets get in it and have Rebekah take our picture."! Yeah right, easier said then done! We managed.

They had this jail house with flexible bars and Rebekah got inside with Damien.

Next we found Mickey's house and walked through it and at the end there was Mickey Mouse and I took several pictures. This was one of the better ones.

We had a great day at Disneyland! We ended the day by watching the parade go down Main Street and after that we parted our ways. Larry and I walked back to our motel and Becky went home. We decided to stay a second night in the motel because we knew we would be really tired after the two full days. Rebekah lives about two hours away from Disneyland also and we didn't want to drive that also after the full days. The park closed at 8pm also because we went off season and during the week.

On Friday we went to their house and Rebekah and Damien were there, but Amir was working. So we just visited.

On Saturday Amir had his two brothers over and their Girlfriends and his mother. He cooked wonderful steaks on the grill and chicken. We had a huge feast this day! There were other things brought in also. It was good to finally meet his family. We really had a good time visiting until late evening.

One thing about this trip, was Larry had a hard time adjusting to their time zone. When it was six o'clock pm he would remind himself it was nine o'clock pm and start yawning and getting really tired. He really had a hard time with it.

Just some pictures of the family.Aren't they cute!

Damien is the happiest baby. He just giggles when Rebekah plays with him!
Amir's dad took us all out to dinner on Sunday. We visited most of this day also.
On Monday we drove to Laguna Beach. We took the scenic route through the mountains and we stopped to take pictures at the top of the mountain and it was overlooking Lake Elsinore. It was beautiful!

The sun was bright and Damien is squinting his eyes.

We arrived at Laguna Beach late morning and walked barefooted in the sand and let the waves hit our feet. The water was cold! Too cold for Damien because he cried when Rebekah let his feet touch the water. I don't think he liked the sand either.

This is one of my favorites of the two of them!

We got back in the care to find something to eat and we found a ferry that took us and the car over to the peninsula. We found the original Ruby's Diner at the end of a pier and we had dinner and watched the sunset of the Pacific Ocean. It was beautiful!
We left on Tuesday to go to a motel by the airport. We drove around and through the mountains to get in some more sight seeing.

I saw this lizard on a rock and snapped his picture real quick before he scooted off!

We had a really good visit and Rebekah and Amir are great hosts. If you ever get a chance to go see them you should.

When we got home on Thursday around 12:30am ugh! we had two happy dogs! Jacen watched them for us and he took good care of them. One of the things I enjoyed the most was I read two books by Beverly Lewis. I don't think I have ever read two books in my life in a two week stretch. They were good reading!

Well I hope you all enjoyed the pictures! I gotta go because it really is 9:30pm and not 6:30pm like it is in California!

P.S. As a Christmas hint you can get me the cook book by Beverly Lewis! Ha!

Love you all! I had the best visit....

with Kevin, Lesley and Michayla the first of July! I drove out there by myself and got paid to do it! That Michayla is so sweet and cute! She was crawling and standing when she held onto something. Lesley started walking at 8 months old and I betcha Michayla does to. Lesley said she is climbing stairs now. While I was there we went to Intercourse, PA and shopped and had lunch with Kevin's mom, Arlene. We drove through a town called Bird-In-Hand also. We stopped and got some homemade rootbeer at an Amish farm on the way there. Lesley said she always wanted to try some as we were passing the sign, so I turned around and went back and got a bottle. It was pretty good! Kevin made a rootbeer float with what was left. I'm sure it tasted good after working outside on a roof all day! I pulled weeds another day and picked greenbeans, snowpeas and pulled weeds! I took Lesley my canner and she canned some greenbeans while I was there. She might be canning tomatoes now.

Lesley's friend Kelly, had her baby girl while I was there, so we went to visit Darrell and Kelly and baby Jorden Rae while I was there. That was special!

I went to the Podiatrist this week because I've been having trouble with my right foot with the arch hurting. She said my feet have very high arches and they are very flexiable, which causes them to work against each other. (What puzzles me is I'm 51 years old and just started having trouble with them after 51 years??? Oh, well!) The tendon that runs down the middle of the bottom of my foot is all inflammed from being on my feet so much. She had molds made of my feet and she ordered Orthodics for my shoes to add support when I walk. Of course (just like a car) she noticed both of my ankles were swollen. I have many veins in my legs and she said with me being on my feet so much a pool of blood collects in my ankles and I need to wear compression hose through the day. I've got to call her about this because she didn't talk about the hose to much. One of the girls I work with said they come in diffrent sizes and tightness and insurance will cover them. I'll have the Orthodics in a couple of weeks, meanwhile I'll just put up with the pain, because it is painful!

I've gotta get off of this computer! I've been here ever since I got off work and its 9:16pm now. Larry hasn't been home at all this week. He will be home from Arkanas tomorrow evening.

I'm gonna go back to TOPS starting in two weeks. I can't go next week because I've already got a commitment the same night they meet. I've gotta get this weight back off of me. Please pray I can get back on the wagon. I would love to walk in the Mini Marathon with Erica and Co. in 2008! I gotta get my foot straightened out before I can start a lot of walking again. I have been walking some though.

Love you all!

Uncle Gene

My dear sweet Uncle Gene passed away last Friday morning. Marylin called me at work and told me. He had had Lukemia for years and it had been in remission, but it came back and he got really bad again. He was in his early 80's. He was the last of my Mom's siblings. I am so glad we spent the last couple of Christmas's with him and Aunt Sugar! When I turned 50 him and Aunt Sugar came to my 50th birthday party! That meant so much to me! The funeral was on Monday and I didn't have to work at all that day.

One thing I know in my heart is I don't have any regrets about not visiting my Uncle Gene and Aunt Sugar because I feel I did the best I could with raising a family and now with all the traveling we do with all of our kids being out of town. I think we do pretty good with keeping up on visiting people with the distance between us all!

Oh well! I'm gonna write a happy blog now!

I love Lucy, Lucy!

Oh what a dog! Last night I was going to bed and I put Lucy and Brittany outside. I went to put my pajamas and robe on and went to let them back in the house and as usual Brittany was at the door ready to come back in. I hollard and hollard for Lucy. Lucy...Oh Lucy!!!! She was commin, weaving back and forth through the yard, but heading to the door. Just as soon as she got to the door she made a U-Turn toward the Ivy bed and she put her snout in the Ivy and made a bee line back to the door and in the house and deposited a great big Cicada bug right on my kitchen floor as she was heading to bed! It was about half dead! I got a papertowel and picked it up and put it in the trash and I said (just like she knew what I was saying) "Don't come wanting to lick me in the face ever again"! What a dog. She is such a mess!

My last two scrapbook pages

I talked to SallyRose this evening and she wants to see my last two scrap book pages. So here they are.

This is Michayla at three moths old. I love this one!

This one is in Honor of Dan and Jacen working in Iraq. The inspiration came to me from the 4th of July play at church when they played the song "Soldier". Here are the lyrics:

Soldier
Some people say I'm a fighter
and some people hate what I do
But I stand for my country
I stand for you

I've got a family that loves me
And they respect what I do
And try telling your child You're leavin
Believe me its a hard thing to do

So if I die don't judge me
Cause I will not judge you
And if I die. Please accept it
Cause I would die for you

We have our reasons
Rules, Morals and beliefs
I won't slander your opinion
I'm just searching for peace.

So if I die don't judge me
Cause I will not judge you
And if I die, Please accept it
Cause I would die for you
I would die for you

Lyrics by Shawn Hlookoff

This is in the upper right of the page. In the middle at the bottom of the page I wrote:

Dan and Jacen served in the Army for 4 years. During that time Dan did a stint in Iraq while Jacen was in Baghdad. Even though they are not in the military now, they are both serving with the military. Dan left July 11th, 2007 to work in Iraq for 1 year. Jacen has been working in Iraq since February 2007.

This page made Larry cry when I showed it to him.

Not only have I been scrapbooking, I have also been making diaper cakes for baby showers. I made one for Nikki and one for a coworker. I wish I had taken pictures of them so I could show you what they looked like. They were a big hit at the showers. I was asked at my coworkers shower if I would take referals to make them. Of course I said yes. It would be kinda nice to make a little extra money on things like this. My next project is a towel cake for one of my coworkers Bridal Shower. I don't think I have ever been so crafty in my life as I am right now. I'm have'n fun! Larry got me a new craft table for the basement, which I really needed. I was working on two card tables and one of those was warped in the middle. When Erica was scrapping with me she had a hard time with it trying to cut her paper and all. I'm planning on having a Christmas card making group over on December 1st. I've already got pattern's for cards. I think that will be fun!

Well gotta go to bed. Its 10:22pm which is past my bedtime, but I was anxious to get this post done after talking to SallyRose. I especially wanted her to see the one of Dan and Jacen. I'll blog again soon as I have a lot to blog about!

Hello everyone....

long time no Blogger here! I looked back at my postings and I haven't blogged since sometime in April. Well, I've been busy working, scrapping, doing yard work, scrapping, painting the front door, scrapping and making greeting cards! At least I'm having fun in between all the working! I started painting the front of the house on Saturday and in between the rain I got the front door and the railing on the front stoop painted. I painted it a light gray. The front of the house will look a lot better after I get the garage door done. Larry put a new door knocker on the front door so people won't think the Harris's still live here. He even put a new door handle on the front storm door and the door actually latch's now. After all these years of not having to push the button to get the door open I went out and without thinking I pushed it with my shoulder and the door didn't budge.

Monday evening we went to a cookout at church for Memorial Day. We had a good time visiting with everyone.

My flowers are blooming! I have Iris's for the first time this year. They are so pretty! I'll have shasta daisies soon for the first time. My blackeyed susan's are coming back. My lawn service burnt them up a couple of years ago (needless to say I didn't have to pay them that time).

I recently went to a card making class at Archiver's. It was $15.00 but you got to make 9 cards, so I thought that was a pretty good deal considering the price of cards. I had a good time doing it too!
See all the pictures of my scrapbooking? Just think some day the albums will be the families of the pictures, so keep the pictures coming!
Coming up Larry and I are going to be doing some traveling. This Saturday Ralph and Lisa are getting married in Jasper, IN and we'll be there all day. We are going to try to come back that night so we won't have to pay for a motel. Then for our 15th wedding anniversary on June 15 we are going to the Shaker Tavern B & B. We'll be there on June 14,15,16 and come home on the 17th. It's in Kentucky. You can look it up on line if your interested. Sounds like we will have a good time. Then we have a big trip planned in October to go see Rebekah, Amir and Damien. Our flight leaves October 3rd and we come back on October 10th. I'm taking almost two weeks off work at this time. I've never taken two weeks off work before in my whole life. I don't know when we'll get to go and see the rest of the family yet this year. We'll just have to see how it goes. It all depends on my time off work and money.

I got to talk to Jordyn on the phone recently! He is such a sweet boy! I'm so glad Sally Rose has him because I can claim him as a GrandSon! I just adore him.

Well so much for long time no blogger. It's bedtime and tomorrow is another day. Sorry about all the pictures, but I wanted to send them all!

Oh, one more thing. The physician assistant, Beth Harding, who started working in Roberta Craft's place because Roberta was diagnosed with cancer last November, was just diagnosed with some form of lukemia. Lukemia is a form of Cancer but it's one of the more treatable ones. But, how bizzare is that! So continue keeping Roberta in your prayers and now please pray for Beth.
You all take care now, ya hear!

I'm so sad.....

because that patient pass away. The same day I found this out we discovered another favorite patient had passed away. I guess when you work in this type of environment you become attached to the patients who come in alot and then, bamm!!! there gone.

I've got another Grand Baby! Congratulations to Rebekah and Amir on Damian Riley! 9lbs 6oz's and 20 inches long. Becky had to have him c-section because he was so big. Now I've got 5 grandchildren. Wow!

The last couple of weeks at work has been quiet because people are on spring break. Its been nice and quite. We'll get hit hard on Monday with people wanting to come to appointments. I wonder why people don't come to the doctor during spring break, but right after that's over they do? Don't they get sick during spring break time? It's really wierd when you stop and think about it.

Brittany has got holes chewed up all over her blanket. She doesn't chew up anything else, just her blanket. She chewed a hole out so big she got stuck in it trying to get out of her blanket. Her whole body wouldn't fit through the hole. It was so funny because Lucy came to go outside and Brittany just stayed in the hole and barked because she couldn't get out of her blanket. Pretty soon that blanket is going to be one big hole. It's time to try and find her another one at Goodwill. I was hoping the picture would come out here, but it came out at the top instead. Oh well!
It's cold outside. Burrrr! Just when I got into a good exercise routine it turned cold. With the Biggest Loser contest going on at work I lost a pound last week. Yeah! I finally lost instead of gaining. It's been fun doing this at work. People are so pumped up about this. A couple of people have lost three pounds each. Everyone has either been staying the same or have lost. There are two teams. The Buff Bods and the Skinny Mini's. I'm on the Buff Bods team and so far we are ahead. There are eight people on each team. Even Dr Day is doing it. He is such a good sport! Every day I try to catch him so I can get his points added to our team. Like that's all he has to think about! We get a point for drinking water, a point for not eating the forbidden food (ice cream for this past week and chips are next weeks), a point for every 20 minutes of exercising, a point for taking the stairs and 1 point for every pound you lose. You get one point if you maintain and you lose three points if you gain. We haven't figured out what the prize will be at the end. Do you have any suggestions?

Gotta go. I've been letting my hair grow out on top and I've got a hair appointment this morning to get it shaped up. Brittany just came to say hello to me. I patted her on the head and than she left. Dogs are funny! Later!

This is the day...

that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Amen! I say this every time I get out of bed. I've got so much to be thankful for. I've got a roof over my head a husband who works hard and much, much more! I'm thankful just to be able to get out of bed every morning because there are many people who can't. I'm really thankful for the warm weather we are starting to get. I'm glad winter is behind us. Aren't you?

I've had a pretty good week this past week. I got another scrapbook page done in Michayla's scrapbook. I'm so slow at scrapbooking because I have to really work at being creative, plus I'm working 40+ hours a week. But I must say the pages are pretty good! I think I'm hooked on scrapbooking. Every time I see a coupon for Joann Fabric's or Michael's craft stores, I cringe, because I know I will just have to use it on one more scrapbook item. I get them in the mail, there in the Sunday newspaper. They seem to be everywhere. I should start getting coupons for Archiver's soon. (Ugh, another coupon). I went through all of my scrapbook tools, stickers, embellishments etc. yesterday and got them all organized. I labeled all the drawers. I bought an over the door student dorm organizer on clearance at Kohl's awhile back just for the purpose of organizing my scrapbook tools in it. It work's pretty good. I put a punch or two in each pocket and labeled each pocket as to which punch is in what pocket to make them easy to find. We'll see how long I keep it organized.

I've dropped out of TOPS and I am going to focus more on exercise. I went back to aerobics on Friday and I took two walks yesterday. I've noticed I sleep better when I exercise. TOPS hasn't been working for me for a couple of years. At work, Cheryl has organized The Biggest Loser GMG Boot Camp. It starts on April 1st and runs for 6 weeks. Several people have signed up to do it. She weighs everyone in once a week and she leads a walk one of the days of the week during our lunch hours and I will lead a walk on another lunch hour. They will be only 20 minute walks, but its a way to help people get motivated.

Yesterday was a really good day! I talked to Erica for quite awhile on the phone and I talked to SallyRose in the afternoon on the phone until she had to go get Allyson from climbing. I'm glad I'm still getting phone calls from all of you and these blogs are not our main source of communication. See, I just said something else I'm thankful for!

The one sad thing that happened this past week was one of my favorite patients went into cardiac arrest and last I heard he was on life support. He was coming in everyday for B12 injections because he has anemia. The last thing he told me was he was going to a specialist to have his throat looked at for Cancer. I told him I would pray for him.The next day his brother called me and told me the sad news. It brought tears to my eyes.

Well, I gotta go. I'm going to start my exercise blog to see if that will help me stay on track. Love you all!

What a Week.....

I've had at work! I could tell my stress level was way up there, because on Friday I was just wiped out! Not only am I the manager over the front office, I am also the manager over Medical Records. What a challange Medical Records is! I'm about to step down from being manager, period! The Med Info Tech the person in Medical Records,is fairly new, she has been with us for less then six months and she is already going to give here two week notice. I had the hardest time getting her to take a lunch hour. Finally, I had to put my foot down and tell her if she didn't start taking her lunch hours that I would get in trouble for approving her time cards without them. I told her since I have never really worked in medical records I needed her to write down what she is doing and how long it is taking her so I can try to get her some help. She doesn't want to do that, she doesn't want to be micromanaged! That wasn't what I was trying to do, I was trying to get the office to understand that she needs some help, so now she is going to give her two week notice. Then on Thursday morning I want in and the whole front office had been rearranged without my knowledge! That just pushed me over the edge and Lisa the back office manager got to hear my ranting, but I'm over that now and I left it like they had arranged it, but they better never complain to me again about things being down on our work counters! By the end of the week I was ready to step down from my position. Poor Larry like to have never heard the end of it. Now tomorrow, the front office is going to be short staffed and the medical reacords person is going to be off. So I don't have an extra person to put back in medical records so I called Lisa the manager over the nurses and she is going to be short a nurse on Monday, so I won't get anyone from her either. I'ts going to be an interesting Monday. This position definatly has its challanges!

Yesterday I went to Brown County to Lisa's,Ralph's fiance, bridal shower. There were alot of people there. She received a lot of nice gifts but no lingere. Which I think is good. Its better to get things you need when your starting a new home. Then I went to Marylin's and she got to hear about my week at work and other things. When I got home Larry had dinner fixed and Joelle White and her family came over for dinner. We ate dinner and then we played Uno Attack. We had a good time! Uno Attack is a good family game because their two kids got to play with us too.

I'm going to church today. I haven't been to church for three weeks so I'm looking forward to it! Gotta go!

My Scrap Booking..

These are the pages I have scraped so far for Michayala's scrapbook. I'm having so much fun with this. These are out of order so, the fourth pictures is the first one and thefirst picture is the second one, the second one is the third one and the third one is the fourth one. I'm finding after you start doing this your hooked! I love it! SallyRose told me about a store called Archives and I went over there and bought flowers and other things. I signed up to go to a basic scrapbooking class also there. I'm excited about this! I didn't know I could be so creative! Whenever you all come at the end of April, bring some pictures, maybe we can find some time to srapbook. Gotta go. Its bedtime. Love ya all!!

Aunt Jessie's 100th Birthday Party

Yes! I finally had success in posting pictures after several tries!
We had such a good time at Aunt Jessie's 100th Birthday Party. I met cousins I didn't know I had. One from Nevada, one from Montana and one from Idaho. We exchanged addresses etc..We had an exciting time and I think A.J. had a good time also.
The ride there and back went well with Marylin and Mike. I hope Larry and I didn't get on their nerves to bad.
Well enjoy the pictures.

What attracted me to Larry

Erica asked me one day what attracted me to Larry and I didn't give her an answer as I have to really think before I can give a good answer. Well, my thinking about this is over and here is my answer! One time when I was a single mom I asked God to bring me a husband that would be good to me and my girls. That's all I asked, nothing specific, just some man who would be good to me and my girls. God brought me someone who is more then what I asked for. Larry has a big heart for people and God. He is emotional and caring. I think at times he gets more teary eyed and emotional over things then I do. He is honest, doesn't cheat and he loves the Lord. He doesn't smoke cigarettes either. Granted, he has his faults, but the good in him out weighs the bad in him. He doesn't do very good at home repairs, which I have learned over time that if you don't nag your husband about things they do eventually get around to getting things done. This past weekend we reset the toilet together in my little bathroom. Isn't that a good husband wife thing to do together! We worked well together which is an accomplishment over time. Just recently I pulled the refrigerator out and vaccumed out the back of it and vaccummed the floor under it and he fixed a bar that has never been in place at the bottom front of it. Our next project is replacing the caulk in the bathrooms and fixing the dripping water faucet in the kitchen. There are always home repairs to do in an older home. Well thats about it. I could go on and on but I've got to get things done around the house to get ready to go to Aunt Jessie's 100th Birthday party. I'll see Erica and Aaron there and I look forward to that also.

I got that bench done and It looks pretty good! I've started scrap booking pictures of Michayala and I'm really proud of that also. I'll have to take pictures of the pages like SallyRose does and post them if I can figure it out. Love ya all!

While Thinking....

When thinking this week on my way to work (which I don't have long to think since I'm less then two miles from work) I thought "Wow! I'm 50 years old and Aunt Jessie's 100 years old. This makes her twice as old as me." Isn't that cool! I don't know that I want to live another 50 years though.

We had an Ice Storm last night. It started around 4:00pm and the warning said until 7am. Larry went out to get the newpaper this morning and he said it is all slushy out side. It really didn't get cold enough to keep it frozen. Thats good!

I'm staying home from church today. This cold is still hangin on. Yesterday I worked on this piano bench we've had for 15 years and its been setting out in the garge for 10 years. Marylin went with me probably 10 years ago and we picked out some material to cover the bench of it and some foam for a cushion. I finally got around to painting it. I painted the base white and I'm almost done putting the material over the cushion. I just have to do the back side of the lid and I'm done. Then I'm going to put it at the end of our bed. I've got to get it done today, as Jim, my brother, is bringing his dog next weekend while he babysits our dogs and he will keep his dog in the utility room where I've been working on the bench. I'll let you know hoe the bench turns out.

Gotta go for now. Love ya all, Lori

Ok everybody I started my own blog. I came up with the name IROL YLREBOM because this is the first thing that popped into my head. This is my first name backwards along with my maiden name backwards. Why this popped into my head, Who knows???? Guess God did it.

I'm looking forward to going to Aunt Jessie's 100th birthday party on March 2nd. Her party is on March 3rd. She lives in Osage Beach, MO. We are riding with Mike and my sister Marylin. It'll be fun. Erica and Aaron are also going. I'm looking forward to seeing them there.

Dan and SallyRose and the kids came to visit us this past weekend and we got the privlege of babysitting the grandchildren for the first time. It was so enjoyable! The kids are growing up.

I'm gonna go for now. Tooddle ooo! I've had a cold this week and I'm not feeling to good. Hope I get over it before going to Aunt Jessie's. (some people call her A.J. for short :) Lori
